About the Role:

As a Legal Associate, you sit at the intersection of commercial velocity and legal protection - turning outcome - based pricing structures into enforceable contracts, keeping Growth and Delivery moving at deal speed, and makingsure devx's interests and its clients' are both protected as the company scales across geographies.

You are expected to use AI tools as a default part of how you practice law here - for drafting, redlining, research, and risk-flagging - not as an occasional shortcut.

Contracts & Commercial Documentation (40%)

• Draft, Review & Negotiate: Own MSAs, SOWs, outcome-based pricing agreements, NDAs, and vendor contracts across client engagements, from first draft to signature.
• Match Legal Pace to Sales Pace: Work directly with Growth Consultants and Account Managers so commercial paper moves at the speed of a deal cycle, not a traditional legal review cycle.
• Build the Clause Bank: Maintain a living library of templates, fallback positions, and precedent clauses so the next contract takes hours, not weeks.

Compliance, Risk & Data Protection (25%)

• Monitor Data & Privacy Exposure: Advise on data protection obligations relevant to AI-native delivery work, including client data used in or near AI systems.
• Flag IP & Confidentiality Risk: Identify intellectual property and confidentiality exposure early in client engagements, before it becomes a delivery or contract problem.
• Support Statutory Compliance: Assist with corporate compliance filings and statutory obligations for Devxconsultancy Private Limited.
• Self-Serve Compliance Tools: Build lightweight checklists Outcome Managers and delivery teams can use directly, instead of routing every question through Legal.

Corporate & Governance Support (20%)

• Governance Documentation: Support corporate secretarial matters, board resolutions, and governance filings asthe company scales.
• Cross-Functional Partnership: Partner with Finance on GST, PAN, and other statutory documentation tied to commercial contracts.
• Structural Advisory: Advise leadership on legal structuring questions as devx expands into new geographies and client segments.

AI-Native Legal Operations (Continuous)

• AI-First Drafting: Use AI tools by default for contract drafting, redlining, clause comparison, and first-pass review - you are expected to move faster than a traditional legal associate because you are AI-native, not despite practicing law.
• Build the Workflow, Not Just Use It: Help design and refine internal AI-assisted legal workflows for contract triage, risk-flagging, and template generation.
• Document to Scale: Turn precedent, playbooks, and negotiation positions into written knowledge so legal judgment compounds across the team instead of living in one person's head.

Legal & Commercial Judgment

• Contract fluency: You can draft and negotiate commercial agreements - MSAs, SOWs, NDAs - without hand-holding.
• Risk-calibrated, not risk-averse: You can tell the difference between a real legal exposure and a theoretical one, and you don't block a deal over the latter.
• Business-first lens: You understand legal exists to enable revenue and protect the company, not to slow either down.

AI-Native Legal Practice

• Ability to use AI tools as core legal workflow: contract drafting, redlining, clause extraction, and AI-assisted legal research are part of your default way of working, not a novelty.
• Critical evaluation of AI output: You're comfortable using AI-generated drafts as a starting point and rigorous about checking them - you're the check on the AI, and the AI is the leverage on you.
• Builder's mindset: Willingness to help build and improve devx's internal AI-assisted legal workflows as the practice matures.

Experience & Background

• 1-4 years of experience as a legal associate, in-house counsel, or corporate law practitioner, with hands-on contract drafting and negotiation experience.
• Working knowledge of Indian corporate law, data protection frameworks, and commercial contracting.
• Experience in an international corporate setting - cross-border clients, multinational contract frameworks, or a global law firm / in-house legal team - given devx's client base across India, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East.
• Law degree (LLB or equivalent), with bar enrollment/qualification in the relevant jurisdiction.
